Fun Fact – Did you know that a single strawberry has 200 seeds?? And its the only fruit which has the seeds outside and come from single ovary and not inside the fruit.
Sometimes you learn something amazing from the everyday item you see and use all the time. Strawberries are the first fruit to come in spring and it is a perennial plant, which means – they come year after year for 4-5 years in a row. Of course the taste depends on weather, soil and other elements of mother nature.
We are very fortunate to stay near the farms which farm strawberries every single year and allows strawberry picking. In my experience, the first week after the open for picking is the best. You get juicy, tender and most fresh fruit right off the plant. After the first week, its mostly pickings from already looted stuff. Also, our farms lets you enjoy as many as you like on the farm fields, but once they are bagged, you have to either buy them or leave them at the farm for them to sell. So, we always enjoy the first fruits and I freeze most of them.
Yummy, easy, fresh and simple – That’s what this recipe is about. Its just 3 ingredients and it hardly takes 15 mins of your time from start to finish.
I love this method, because,
- You control the sugar
- Fresh ingredients
- You don’t need any extra pectin(thickener used for jams and jellies).
- Easily double or triple the recipe
Strawberries, Lemon juice and sugar — that’s all you need from your fridge & pantry. This recipe makes around 1.5 cups and keeps fresh for 2 weeks in the fridge. Good for on the toast, cookies, muffins and the list goes on as usual for any other jam.
Note – If the strawberries are not sweet, increase the sugar to 3/4 cup.

3-ingredient Strawberry Jam
Make your mornings quicker and simpler with simple homemade strawberry jam
- 2 cups fresh strawberries
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 2 tsp Lemon juice
- Wash & cut the strawberries without stems into small pieces.
- In a heavy bottomed saucepan, on medium heat, add strawberries and sugar. Stir over medium-low heat until sugar is dissolved and starts to slowly bubble up.
- Add lemon juice, increase heat and get this to rolling boil and keep stirring until the jam starts thicken. (about 10-12 mins). Make sure to mash up any big pieces
- Turn off the heat and let it come to room temperature. Transfer to a glass jar and store it for 2 weeks in fridge. Enjoy!!!!
- If the strawberries are not sweet, increase the sugar to 3/4 cup.
